Thanks to all who came out to support our Corvette Show, Bake Sale, and Mum Sale on Saturday! Extra special thanks to Wade & Peggy Mertz for coordinating the cars for the event in conjunction with Lake Shore Corvettes. Despite a soggy start, the day turned out beautiful!
Monday, our free Tech Talks return at 1 p.m. with a focus on Tablet Games. Come with your device to discover some of the games that the AARP suggests will delay cognitive decline - games that let you engage in sports, flight simulators, and almost any other activity you can imagine. Plus, traditional games such as chess, checkers, mah jongg, or bride, using your iPad or Android device. Registrations is helpful but not necessary.
Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. we welcome homeowner Keith Peecook to the Lodge with his "Intro to Stained Glass" presentation. Keith is newly retired but has many years of experience with glass to share. His powerpoint talk will highlight everything you need to begin in this rewarding hobby. All participants will be entered into a drawing for one of his original pieces. Watch for Keith at our Craft Show on November 2nd! Registration is helpful but not necessary.
The Visit with Jan Jones has been cancelled for Tuesday afternoon due to lack of registration. We may try this event again at a later date.
Happy Hour this week Tuesday is Mulligan's for the men and French Creek for the women. Ladies, please call Linda Dolinsky before 2 p.m. if you plan to attend.
Two Bus Tour Updates: We have 9 seats open for the December 10th Silver Grille Bus Tour. This tour is $70 per person and includes an extra special luncheon catered by the Ritz-Carlton, live entertainment, and walking tours of some of Cleveland's notable landmarks.
Our Brewery Tour on October 29th is half-way to the point that will make this trip a reality. Join in this culinary tasting adventure and visit four micro-breweries enjoying samples and small plates at each. Price per person is $67. The 2014 Annual Meeting of the Pioneer Ridge HOA, will be held on Wednesday, November 12 at 6:30pm. The location is the same as last year, the American Legion Post 717, located at 8820 Bender Road. As usual, we will be electing a new member to the Advisory Council at the annual meeting. Anyone interested in running for this position, please submit a short bio to George by Monday, October 6th. The bio can be emailed or dropped off to the lodge. For new residents who may be interested in applying - do not let you length of residency be a deterrent to your application. All candidates will be considered based on relevant experience. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact John Allen, Bill Bollman, or Bruce Barden.
Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. is another Tech Talk featuring an Intro to Social Media. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Vine: when it comes to social media, the list goes on and on. Doug Sebring will lead an introduction to all types of social media and then you can decide whether they are right for you. Registration is helpful but not mandatory.
NEW! This Thursday, September 18th, the Christian Fellowship Group will be in it's 2nd week of our 4 week study of the Book Of Revelation led by resident and retired Pastor Bob Fitzpatrick. Each week the group will meet for 1 hour, using various media and lively discussion to explore the exciting and challenging final book of the Bible (no experience required!!). No need to sign up, just join the group in the multi-purpose room at 2PM. Free refreshments and snacks will be provided. Questions? contact Greg Dore at 216-406-4125.
The Lorain County Metroparks Bus Tour will depart the Lodge at 9:45 a.m. this Friday. An email was sent with a detailed itinerary - please check your email for details.
On Saturday, the North Ridgeville Fire Department will be at the Lodge from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to offer free blood pressure checks and glucose screening for residents. Stop in and meet our local firemen and have a quick screening done while you're here!
The monthly Cornhole Tournament returns on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Sign up on the bulletin board to compete for ultimate bragging rights!
The Singles / Solos Group is heading out to putt-putt on Sunday and will carpool from the Lodge beginning at 3 p.m. (NOTE THE TIME CHANGE). Please sign up at the desk you plan to join in. Price is $6 (Senior) or $7 for Mini Golf, paid to Mulligans. Pizza, salad and soft drinks will be supplied by the club after the outing at Mulligans at approximately 5:30.

NEW! On Tuesday, September 23rd at 1 p.m., Penny Brandeau of the Black River Audubon Society returns to recap the bluebird season, to present information to any residents interested in joining in the group, and to show a short DVD offering a bird's eye view of the life cycle of a bluebird. If anyone is interested in having a nest box placed on their property, please contact residents John Barcza or Bob Culler for details. No need to register - please just come!
Our representative at Playhouse Square reports that Newsies will be the hot ticket of the season! We have a block of tickets reserved for the matinee production on Saturday, November 15th. Our tickets are in Orchestra A seating and are $72. These seats will go fast so don't delay if you'd like to attend. Please remember that transportation is on your own and if you would like to sit with someone, have one person purchase your tickets at the desk. We are not able to accommodate special seating requests after seats have all been assigned.
