Hello Pioneer Ridge!
So many things to smile about this morning! How about your amazing Glee Club? Many congratulations to Jim Traxler, Mary Ann Blunk, and every member of the sold-out performance on Friday. Your hard work and dedication echoes throughout the neighborhood.
And Cinco de Mayo may be the new favorite holiday at Pioneer Ridge! Many thanks to Gloria Smith and her committee for organizing & hosting the super popular event.

Registration is open for the Memorial Day Ceremony & Breakfast on Monday, May 25th beginning at 8 a.m. Please note that Veterans are free but must be registered in order to attend. See the newsletter or online calendar for details!
Event Planners will be holding their annual BAKE SALE on Election Day, Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Event Planner members and any homeowner who would like to donate baked goods for the success of our fund raiser, please deliver your baked goods on Monday, May 4 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.. You may also deliver baked goods on Tuesday, May 5, beginning at 6:30 a.m.
On Election Day the pastries will be available for sale from the time the polls open at 6:30 a.m. until we run out. Come early, they usually sell out fast. Any questions please contact Pat Allen 309-4454.
Please note, due to Election Day, there will be no evening 20-20-20 class this week Tuesday.
Tuesday morning we are meeting at Heinen's in Avon at 11 a.m. for a plant-based cooking demo and food sampling followed by a store tour to highlight some of the items they stock and to practice our nutrition label reading. This event is free and open to anyone interested in learning more about plant-based nutrition. Please register at Front Desk if you plan to attend.
Happy Hour will be Ace's Grille for the men and Bistro 83 for the women. Ladies, please call Linda Dolinksy by 2 p.m. at 440-567-9681 if you plan to attend.
Wednesday is our monthly free Fitness Orientation starting at 10 a.m. This event requires registration to ensure we have enough participants to hold the session. Please sign up by Tuesday if you plan to attend this free instructional orientation, led by Erica Cambarare.
Thursday is our first Art Class with Mary Jo Clark starting at 10 a.m.! This class is geared toward the beginner and will teach watercolor pencil. The cost per person is $15 for the class, and a short supply list is needed (see your newsletter). Please register by Wednesday to join in.
It's time to take the bike out of storage! Marty's Cycle will hold a Bike Clinic here on Thursday, May 7th from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. and share the main things you should know in tuning up your bicycle and staying safe on the road. Free event with refreshments provided - please register to save a seat!
Friday morning will be the volunteer meeting for "Coupons for the Troops" starting at 10 a.m. Bring your scissors and come meet other residents while working toward a great cause.
Couch to 5k continues on Friday at 11 a.m. Thanks to Jeanne Sikorski for encouraging everyone each week.
Our monthly Homeowner Social takes place this Friday beginning at 5:30 p.m. We'll announce the winners of the Biggest Loser contest and share news about upcoming events!
Saturday is a fun Jewelry Making Workshop with Evelyn Finley. Stop by the Lodge to see the unique pearl shell necklace pendant and matching earrings that will be taught, and sign up today! You'll have your choice of color and cording to compliment your pieces. Total cost including supplies, tools, and instruction is $30 per person. Class will be in the Sun Room and begin at 10 a.m. Grab a friend and sign up today!
Looking ahead: Next Tuesday is a poetry class discussing the life and works of Emily Dickinson. Taught by Dr. Warren Campbell-Gaston, who led an interesting class on Picasso a while back, this session will explore the way in which Dickinson broke apart prose and changed the way the world looked at poetry. The class fee is $5 per person - register by Friday to attend.
The Photography Club is proud to announce their photos are on display this month at the Carlisle Reservation located at 12882 Diagonal Road in LaGrange. Stop out to see the 32 photographs exhibited by 11 Pioneer Ridge residents. Congratulations to all of you!
Mark your calendars for the Spring Savings Showcase at the Lodge on Monday, May 18th from 5-7 p.m. This year, come hungry! Barrio Taco Truck (voted Best Food Truck and Best Tacos of 2014) will be out front selling their amazing food, plus the LEC will host their annual spring Plant Sale fundraiser. More than 35 businesses will pack the house and front circle to present you with exclusive savings opportunities and giveaways. We'll of course have lots of raffle prizes, too - THIS YEAR, only one prize per household and you must be present to win. Prizes not collected will be redrawn for another winner. Looking forward to this crazy fun event!
Schedule update: I will be out of the office this Friday, May 8th (returning for the social) and next week Tuesday, May 12th - Friday, May 15th for ongoing workshops related to the professional development course I am taking. I will have very limited access to email during these dates.
A few SAVE THE DATES: The Run @ the Ridge will take place on Saturday, June 20th. The Community-Wide Garage Sale will take place on Wednesday, July 8th - Saturday, July 11th. And the annual Golf Outing is scheduled for Friday, July 17th.
