Weekly Update for April 14th - 20th
Hello Pioneer Ridge,
I am happy to report that all 56 people who participated in yesterday's Road Rally, made it back to the Lodge in one piece. 3rd place team: Tim & Tracy Simon and Bev & Phil Ols. 2nd place team: Diane Wedel, Jane Peterseim, Judy Masa, and Dixie Mazur. 1st place team: with ALL questions answered was Stan & Linda Zochowski, and Pat & Ann Graham. A giant THANK YOU to Greg & Edie Dore for devising another fun rally - it took hours and hours to create and we are all grateful!
Thank you to all who have reserved seats on the Summer Highlights Bus Tour. We will definitely have one bus on Thursday, June 26th and are working to secure a second. An email with further instruction will be sent to those who responded later this week.
The Aqua Zumba classes on Wednesday nights have been suspended due to instructor injury. We plan to resume the classes on Wednesday, May 7th.
This afternoon, all are invited to drop into Monday's "Hands On Volunteer Orientation" at 1 p.m. This orientation will allow you to create an account on the handsonneo.org website and be able to select local volunteer opportunities to join. We have a nice group attending - feel free to attend.
An updated version of the community map with walking distances has been loaded onto our website under amenities, community maps. Thanks to Jenny Barden and Don Hook for measuring off these new construction streets and updating the information!
There is no Line Dancing tonight - class will resume on Monday, April 21st.
Tonight's Moon Over Pioneer Ridge presentation begins at 7 p.m. and is timed with a full moon! This free program is paid by the Marketplace Program and is led by naturalist, Chuck Jakubchak. We have nearly 40 people attending - last minute drop-ins are welcome.
Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. is a talk by local Secret Service agent, Thomas Knighton. You are welcome to join in this event as well - we have a large group coming.
For Happy Hour this week Tuesday, the men will meet at French Creek Tavern, located in Avon at the corner of Detroit and Route 611. The women will meet at Bootlegger's. Ladies, if you plan to attend, please call Linda Dolinsky before 2 p.m.
After Happy Hour, the meeting of the North Ridgeville Community Garden will take place beginning at 7 p.m. at the Lodge. This will be led by garden President, Bill Yirava, and is open to anyone committed to the project, or thinking about joining.
Water Aerobics and Aqua Arthritis are scheduled fitness classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. It is also offered on Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m. The Thursday morning classes are in jeopardy of cancellation if we don't have more participation. If you've been thinking about joining in - now is the time! No pre-registration is required - a fitness fee of $4 is paid at the door. Hope to see you!
Balance Yoga is at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning and is one of our more popular classes. Come check out the new and improved class - just $5 at the door.
Also on Wednesday, a preview of the lineup for the 2014-2015 Playhouse Square Broadway season. Come at 10:30 a.m. to see snippets of each of the shows and to help me choose which events we reserve tickets to attend.
Thursday morning is the Biggest Loser weigh-in. The last weigh-in before the FINAL on Thursday, May 1st!
Join us at the Lodge on Thursday afternoon to have a cup of coffee with Mayor David Gillock and to hear updates on the city, the widening of Center Ridge, and other current events. Please register to save a seat - this event will begin at 3:30 p.m. (please note the new time.)
On Saturday at 9:30 a.m. we will host a Jewelry Making Workshop to create your choice of two beautiful beaded bracelets with the very talented Evelyn Finley. Take a break from dying Easter eggs and come make something special for yourself or for a friend! Total cost is $30 including instruction, and all supplies. Please register by Thursday to join.
Happy Easter! The Lodge will be closed on Sunday.
Announcements from the Sunshine Committee: Community Care collections this month include pancake mix, syrup, oatmeal, or any basic pantry staple. Thank you for your continued support of this effort. Thanks to homeowner Rochelle Courtney, the committee has a beautiful handmade quilt to raffle off as a fundraiser. Rochelle's handiwork will be on display at upcoming events where you can then purchase your tickets for your chance to win. Each ticket is $2 or 3 for $5. Drawing will take place at the June Homeowner Social.
